Post Pinboard
Hippotizer has a long-standing reputation as the easiest and fastest media server to operate, thanks in the main to our pioneering ZooKeeper application, first introduced in Hippotizer Version 3.

ZooKeeper enables any Windows computer to control any or every Hippotizer on the network from one location; making operating even the largest multi-system shows easy. Building on this, Version 4 uses an all new ZooKeeper to control Hippotizer V4 servers adding unprecedented customisability. Central to this flexibility is the Pinboard; the building block of ZooKeeper where all controls are placed.

This new V4 ZooKeeper can run on any Windows 8 64bit system, and is designed to be used on a touchscreen. Version 4 Zookeeper will work with Hippotizer V4 machines only. Hippotizer V4 comes pre-loaded with default Pinboards, these can be modified and completely new layouts created to suit any need.

The first priority is to get up and running quickly; with this in mind ZooKeeper features default layouts for the layer, mix and viewport controls.

This includes all common layer controls such as media select, geometry, effects and colour control. Each layer also contains Presets for saving and instant recall of settings. Styled after the familiar Hippotizer V3 control layout, the default layer control should be very easy for existing Hippotizer users to use.

One of the most exciting aspects of V4’s ZooKeeper is custom Pinboards that enable a user to create completely new control layouts. In banks of 25 Pinboards, there can be as many different boards as required. Up to nine Pinboards can be designated for quick access; selectable from every screen within ZooKeeper and recalled from keyboard shortcuts to instantly move between common views.
Building a new layout normally starts by adding selectors; these contain a smaller pinboard that changes the context of the controls within them. For example, a Layer level control placed within a Layer selector will control the layer highlighted by the selector. Zookeeper contains a Layer, Mix, Viewport and Host selector all accessible just beneath the pin tree.

Also in this toolbar, is the icon to add a Visualiser element to the pinboard to see the Visualiser output as part of a layout. Selectors can be nested within each other; a Layer selector placed within a mix selector will set controls to the selected mix and layer.

Each control can be edited when the Pinboard is unlocked; to unlock a pinboard simply click the padlock symbol in the bottom left corner of the ZooKeeper screen.

On each control, there are four buttons to move the control, delete it or resize it. In the bottom left corner is the button to access the settings. Not every control has many options, some like the DMX component, allow for different views such as the DMX viewer. The layer selector specifically has the ability to also show multiple mixes from within the settings menu.

The option to show multiple mixes allows for layouts to be created optimised for touch screens to rapidly select media across many mixes and layers for example.
Thanks to the flexibility of ZooKeeper in Hippotizer V4 controlling the system is easier and faster than ever before.
