audio formats supported and multichannel
Information: When audio (either as audio files or audio within video) is used within the Hippotizer software, it utilises the Directx audio engine to do this. Currently the engine supports 1 - 8 channels, 16 Bit, 44.1k, 48k or 96k sample rate as WAV, PCM (embedded wav) or mp3.
NOTE: 8,10,12 and 24 bit audio files will fail to playback.
How to: use multichannel audio with a Hippotizer
Hippotizer V3 3.0.14 and later support the feature to use Multichannel audio. This can be as audio files only, or video with multichannel audio.
To use Audio you need to use a external USB sound card which supports DirectX. Normally the built in sound card on Hippotizers will play back audio however we cannot guarantee the quality of the audio signal therefore we recommend you get a dedicated external sound card.
To use multichannel, the external sound card needs to support multi-channel using DirectX.
Once you have a sound card installed, you need to configure it in windows to play back your multichannel file correctly to the various audio channels.
Once you have done this, the Hippotizer software will use the same configuration as windows to map audio channels to specific outputs.
If you have problems with multi-channel audio please contact your local distributor or green-hippo technical support.
