Post F12 , the restore function on a Critter or Portamus
For Critters and Portamus ( that are Express dongles ) it are a USB stickmemory to buy that if you want, talk to you local dealer about that!
The F12 restore feature on Hippotizer Critter or Portamus will reset your hippotizer back to when it left the factory. This will only restore the C:drive. So for Stage and HD this will not delete the media, on an express you will have to back the media up to an external harddrive.
Where to find it: The F12 restore function come up after bios and before windows in the top right hand corner. By hitting F12 when prompted it will give you and option not the procede with the F12.

This will take about 10 - 15 minutes.

This is a get out of jail free card for when windows becomes corrupted.
Instructions:
F12 To restore or Create User Back Up for the

Hippotizer.

1) Restore Factory State.

Restore Factory State is an image that was created when the unit left the factory.

This includes everything on the C Drive.

If you want to restore the unit back to the Factory State make sure that you have

backed up any data you have on the C drive.

Also on the HippoCritter and Portamus systems you will need to backup any

media. You can do that by exporting your media with the Media Manager in the

hippotizer software.

2) Create a User Back Up.

The option to Create User Back up allows the Distributor or the User to create their

own restore state on the unit. With the following caveats;

1. The user can only create one image.

2. The used space on the C drive cannot be more than 40GB.

To check the used space, in windows right-click on the C drive, go to properties and

look at the ‘Used Space’

3) Restore User Backup.

Restore User Back image will roll back the unit to the Image that the distributor or

the user has created. This will restore the unit to the state created as mentioned

in the section above (2)

That will change any settings and media (Critter and Portamus units) that you

have added after the User backup was created. Critter and Portamus users need

to make sure that you have backed up all your media before you select the

restore user backup application.

Note: If you use any of the restore options above, after the restore has completed the

system will need to reboot once or twice before the system boots in to windows. The

approximate time that takes after selecting one of the backup/restore options can range

from 10-25 minutes.
