Post subject:  MPEG2 16 pixel restriction

he MPEG2 codec that Hippo use for all the media in Version 2 and Version 3 Hippotizer systems has many advantages, but it also has a few restrictions.
One of the restrictions of MPEG2 is that the horizontal and vertical pixel dimensions must be a number that is divisable by 16. So if you had a movie that was 162 x 320 pixels then it would not make a valid MPEG2 file, it would need to be either 160 x 320 or 176 x 320 pixels so that both numbers are divisable by 16.

This is not usually a problem because all standard screen resolutions are already divisable by 16 anyway, it's only a concern when you are using custom resolution LED screens.

In HippotizerV2 you have to create legal MPEG2 files for import so there is no way around this restriction. In V3 it will accept file dimensions of any size, but the system will automatically add a small black border around the image if necessary to make the file a legal MPEG2 files size.

Anyway, it all works now in V3.013 !
And also the limit of sizes seems to be solved as well so.....

To preserve the alpha transparency of a clip you must enable it in the Media Manager encoding settings:
This can be found by opening Media Manager and selecting "Encoding Settings".
Then selecting the "preserve alpha transparency" tick box.
Please note: When uploading clips with alpha transparency that there are different size limits per product. See below:

Hippotizer Express: * x 288
Hippotizer Stage: 1920 x 384
Hippotizer HD: 1920 x 1080
HippoCritter: * x 288

*Products horizontal pixel limit is 1024, anything over that will not be visible at one time but is supported up until 1920.
