Post Behringer BCF2000
I'm thinking of getting a BCF2000 for my Critter, though I am wondering whether it is possible to use the BCF connected to a laptop running Zookeeper, rather than direct to the Critter. I.e. If the Critter is sited somewhere off back stage and is being controlled remotely from FOH, can I still use the control surface without running a mile long USB connection?

Any other comments on the BCF2000 also welcome.

Cheers,
Gareth.

Post Re: Behringer BCF2000
This will be fixed in V3.0.14 , the issue with ZooKeeper remote has not be able to handle midi directly.
So right now it will not work util this release ( or hopefully the 3.1 we all are waiting for) are public.

The Behringer is righ now the best choice, low cost and really a good unit.
I this level of money you get really a good value for the bucks!!
BUT, hopefully on PLASA GreenHippo will show the new unit, a new controller that will be even better!!
So look out for that, maybe not the same level of price but as I been told, a really pro control system based on midi.

Thanks Peppe - it'll be interesting to see what GH come up with.

Cheers,
Gareth.

Post Re: Behringer BCF2000
Bit of an update for anyone interested: I spoke to a GH employee last week at a technology event here in the UK, who revealed the new USB control solution to be the Mackie C4 system. Price for the central MCU is about Ā£1000 (so about 10x the cost of the BCF2000, but will offer a lot more functionality, including a new way of recording cues and a way to easily and quickly control many Hippos at once.

Starting to sound like a must have accessory...

Also good news: Very soon (quite possibly next week) GH will be releasing a new build that will include the much rumoured two layer 720P mode for the Critter.

Gareth.
