Post subject: | Image is cropped/shifted if connecting a VGA output to DVI |
Problem: Image is cropped/shifted when connecting a VGA output to a DVI capture card on a Hippotizer. More details: When you connect a device to a DVI capture card using a VGA-DVI adapter or cable, the resulting video captured by the Hippotizer may appear to be cropped or has been shifted up/down or left/right. Solution: This problem occurs because the Hippotizer software is unable to correctly capture the settings to use from the output device as it is not a DVI connection. To workaround this, you need to work through the following steps; NOTE: These changes are not permanently saved so if the software is restarted, these steps will have to be done again. 1- Configure the source device to the desired output resolution. 2- Start up Hippotizer software, and select the appropriate source in the layer control. 3- You should see that the VGA output is coming through albeit cropped. 4- On the Hippotizer desktop, run the Datapath VisionRGB-DVI window application (you should be able to do this while the Hippotizer software is running). 5- In most cases, the Datapath Applcation will correct the input as soon as you select the correct window, and these changes will be picked up by the Hippotizer software. 6- If you want to adjust them manually select Window|Input Settings... in the RGB-DVI application. 7- Once you have run this application, you can exit from it and the Hippotizer software will still use the corrected settings unless it is restarted. |
